Coaches & Admin: The Key to Sustaining Effective Instruction
There is an old adage in education surrounding professional development: “This too shall pass…” Most teachers have experienced the one-day workshop wherein great ideas are shared, only to never be implemented in the classroom. While fads come and go, one thing has staying power, research-based effective teaching strategies!
Project GLAD Origin Story
Project GLAD® was developed by Marcia Brechtel and Linnea Haley in the 1980's and was originally called Project GLEP (Guided Language Experience Process). Their unique perspectives and styles allowed for a comprehensive and amazing program to be created. They formulated this model to focus on academic language acquisition, literacy development, and building cross-cultural skills. Brechtel and Haley designed the strategies and model to specifically target and promote rapid growth with groundbreaking efficiency.
Cultivate Authentic Engagement with Brainpower and Cultural Awareness
Your kids may be doing the work, but are they authentically engaged? How can you intentionally support them as they take charge of their learning? An effective way for our students to become insightful is by teaching them about the brain. When they gain self-awareness and understand how the brain works, they can take charge of their learning and embrace productive struggle. In Part 1, we focus on the Basics to Brainpower. In Part 2, we enrich perspective by explaining how Deep Culture drives information processing. The relationship between the two cultivates authentic engagement and transformational learning communities.
